Arizona High School Hockey Association – Need Based Scholarships

1. Scholarships

1.1. In an effort to promote the benefits of playing youth hockey, to make hockey available to as many as possible and to reward individual value to the organization, Arizona High School Hockey Association will provide means of obtaining financial assistance to those who are worthy or in need of such aid.
 

1.2.AHSHA Scholarships. AHSHA is a non-profit organization in Arizona that organizes league play for Arizona high schools. Scholarship money has been allocated to be used for League membership fees

2. Qualifications
 

2.1.The purpose for granting assistance is based on need. AHSHA will provide this assistance in cases where a skater's family can not makes ends meet and all other means have been exhausted.
 

2.2.The player must be in good standing with the school and have a minimum 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
 

2.3.The player cannot be participating in any other travel or house hockey team.

3. Procedure
 

3.1.The procedure begins by completing the application and sending it with a letter from the applicant's parent(s) or guardian (if additional information is needed) to Arizona High School Hockey Association detailing the basis for need as specified above and for what amount. 

A letter of recomendation should also come from a coach or manager that is familiar with the family's situation. The letter should include what efforts they have made to fulfill their financial obligation to the League and should detail to what extent the proposed recipient has participated in fundraising events.

It will be up to the Board of Directors or a Scholarship Committee made up of Board Members to decide if the request meets the qualifications described above. Once approved by the Board or Committee, AHSHA will notify the family.
 

3.2.AHSHA will notify the applicant and the Treasurer will apply the funds to the League fee. The applicant must be a member in good standing, which includes not having any other outstanding balances with AHSHA or other leagues that are part of the Arizona Amateur Hockey Association (AAHA). It will be up to AHSHA to decide if the applicant can request additional assistance in the future.

Print the Application form.  Obtain copies of the required attachments.  Complete the application and EMAIL it to the address on the form.  Deadline is July 15 for the submission of scholarships applications. Scholarship applications will be accepted after July 16 on a funds available basis.
