2010-2011 Season
AHSHA has committed to fielding 2 Midget teams – a U16 and a U18 – provided there are sufficient players with appropriate talent for both. Those who try out and are selected as members of AZ Thunder are required to be in good standing with their high school teams. Players must register for the regular 2010-2011 Fall/Winter season prior to attending tryouts.
Tryouts are planned for the last weekend in August at Arcadia Ice Arena. Details and registration information are posted to the tryouts tab.
The Thunder teams will play other high school and Midget teams in the area and participate in available tournaments in Arizona and possibly one planned out of state tournament.
Every effort will be made to avoid scheduling conflicts with regular AHSHA-scheduled high school games. Last year, there were minimal conflicts. Should a conflict arise, however, players should try to attend their AHSHA scheduled high school games.
The AZ Thunder team operates separately and is financially separate from the league. The league does not subsidize the team.
Cost for the 2010-2011 program is estimated at approximately $1999.00 which includes travel expenses. Players and parents will need to sign a contract upon selection to the team, committing to the entire season.
Payments will be spread out over four to six months with the first payment due prior to the team's first official practice after tryouts. Players will need to register through sPortability for the team and use the FlexiPay options to distribute the payments across multiple months or they can pay by check..
A tentative budget, practice and game schedule will be reviewed at the parent meeting prior to the first official practice after tryouts.
